FAQs

WHO IS THIS COURSE AVAILABLE TO?

Whatever your age, background, religion or orientation, anyone who identifies as a woman, or has a vulva, is welcome to join our program.
We’re working to develop a version of our program for men and penis-owners too.

HOW ARE THE WORKSHOPS SET UP?

The monthly 3-hour workshop is designed to be done either in one go or across two separate days. If you’ve signed up with friends, you can meet up in person or online - so it’s lockdown friendly! And in case you were worried - the workshop practices don’t require any nakedness.

Audio-guided pleasure practices are one part of our program, but these are optional and for you to do on your own, whenever it suits you, with your door locked. Or whatever helps you to feel relaxed.

WHAT ARE “HOME PRACTICES”?

There are four types of practices that you’ll get each month. You can do them all, or pick the ones you’re most interested in. For each practice there will be an audio file and written guidance with the step-by-step process and answers to frequently asked questions. 1. Breath practices: to deepen your connection with your body, enhance pleasure and calm your nervous system. 2. Connection practices: to learn techniques such as massage, movements, visualisation and sounding to connect to your sensations. 3. Integration practices: with tools to safely process unhelpful or overwhelming thoughts, emotions and sensations. These guides complement the integration practices. 4. Reclamation practices: to reconnect with parts of your sexuality that you may have suppressed or ignored - consciously or subconsciously.

WHAT ARE “EXPLORATION GUIDES” AND “REFLECTION SHEETS”?

Each month we provide three types of written resources to guide you in your self-exploration:

1. Pleasure guides: with techniques to explore and increase pleasure, focusing on a different part of your body each month.
2. Integration guides: with tools to safely process unhelpful or overwhelming thoughts, emotions and sensations. These guides complement the integration practices. 3. Reflection sheets: with questions to take stock of what you’ve learned and experienced so far, and prompts for how to apply these insights to your life.

CAN I PARTICIPATE EVEN IF I DON’T HAVE MUCH TIME?

Yes! We share the program materials in small weekly chunks to help you to spread them out over the month and fit them into your schedule. We’ve captured all the key content in the monthly illustrated videos and the workshops, so if that’s all you have time for, you’ll still get all the information you need.

This means the minimum time investment you need is only 3.5 hours per month. In addition, all the materials (except the workshop videos) will be available to you on our program platform forever, so you can access them whenever you want!

HOW DO THE LIVE SESSIONS WORK?

The live sessions are a space for a guided reflection on the last month’s materials and experiences led by our coach Marlene. It’s an opportunity for participants to hear from others and ask questions. We host two live sessions for different timezones on the last Thursday of each month. Session 1: 19:30 BST, 20:30 CEST Session 2: 16:30 PDT, 19:30 EDT

WILL THE COURSE MATERIALS BE AVAILABLE FOREVER?

All the individual program materials will be available to you on our program platform forever, so you can come back to them whenever you want. This includes all the insight videos, home practices, reflection sheets and guides from the course.
The monthly workshop videos are the only materials which are available for just that month. We do this because research shows time limits and structure help people complete courses, and we want to get you going on your sexploration journey!

The live sessions are not recorded so that people can feel comfortable and safe to share and listen together with other participants.

DO I HAVE TO SHARE MY OWN EXPERIENCE WITH OTHERS?

No. Connecting with others and learning from them is a core part of our approach, but we know that not everyone will feel comfortable sharing their own experiences. You can sign up to the course by yourself if that feels best for you, and just listen in during the live sessions and hear from others.

WILL I MISS OUT IF I DON’T HAVE A SEXUAL PARTNER?

Definitely not! While part of this course includes learning how to connect with sexual partners (current or future) and communicate your needs and desires, the aim of our program is for you to explore your own experiences, challenges, and personal desires, so that you can understand and enjoy your individual sexuality. With that in mind, we’ve also designed all the practices to be done by yourself.

WHY IS PEER CONNECTION A CORE PART OF YOUR APPROACH?

Some of the most valuable aspects of this course come through connection and learning from others. Our workshops and live calls mean you can hear from people of different ages, countries and backgrounds, and share stories and encouragement. It can be a relief to know that you’re not the only one who has felt or experienced something, and you might even be inspired by someone else to try something new.

We prioritise trust in our shared spaces, entering into them with clear participant agreements, sharing practical guidance, and having a trauma-informed approach so that people can feel safe to hear from others, or share their own experiences if they would like to.

WILL I MISS OUT IF I DON’T JOIN THE COURSE WITH FRIENDS?

We know that not everyone will want or be able to join the course with others. Our program and workshop videos are designed so that you can do them on your own or in a group - whichever feels right for you. If you sign up by yourself, you can still connect with others during the live sessions.

CAN I ASK QUESTIONS  ANONYMOUSLY?

Yes. You can send in questions for us to read out anonymously and answer in the live sessions.

HOW DOES THE COURSE TAKE INTO ACCOUNT EXPERIENCES OF SEXUAL TRAUMA?

Many people have experienced some kind of trauma related to sex or intimate relationships. We have taken a trauma-informed approach throughout our program, and in designing our materials. Our course also includes practices that can help to work through mental and physical barriers, and gently release trauma and negative emotions.

While this approach is central to our organisation, we are not trauma specialists. If exploring experiences of sexual trauma is something you would like to focus on, we can provide information on other practitioners and organisations specialising in this area.

WHAT IF I WANT MORE SUPPORT OR PERSONAL GUIDANCE?

You can book 1:1 coaching sessions with our sexuality and relationship coach Marlene - get in touch through the contact form to find out more.

WHAT IS YOUR COACH’S BACKGROUND, EXPERTISE & EXPERIENCE?

Our sexuality and relationship coach Marlene received her certification from the Institute for Integrated Sexuality, a leading school in sex and relationship coaching. Her training included knowledge, tools and practices from the fields of sexology, psychology and trauma release - as well as modern exploration and integration methods. She is a massage therapist, and has included techniques in Sexplore’s program to release physical and emotional tension and stimulate different bodily systems. Marlene has facilitated transformational group processes with hundreds of people in 16 different countries, and has studied a wide range of self-discovery and group participation approaches. Her training in Cultural and Social Anthropology and group connection tools has fed into Sexplore’s peer exchange and support approach, which provides a safe and encouraging space for sexual exploration. She has spent many years researching, being coached and doing sexploration work to replace negative conditioning, shame and physical blockages, with pleasure-positive beliefs. Her passion is to guide people to develop deeper relationships with themselves and others, and to discover how their bodies and their sexuality can be a source of energy, confidence and pleasure.
